Varjo forms teams with big names

The technology company’s first development partners include 20th Century Fox, Airbus, Audi, BMW, Technicolor and Volkswagen.

has taken a leap toward commercialising its virtual reality and mixed reality (VR/XR) technology through establishing a development partner programme. Global brands including 20th Century Fox, Airbus and Volkswagen will collaborate with Varjo in order to optimise the company’s human-eye resolution VR/XR Bionic Display for their respective business sectors.

Varjo’s recent funding round, which brought the company 8.2 million dollars, has enabled the team to begin the early access programme as well as boost its R&D capabilities.

Varjo will commence shipments of its Alpha Prototypes to its first technology partners before the end of the year. Beta Prototypes is to be shipped to existing and new partners in the design, engineering, simulation and entertainment sectors early next year. The partners will provide feedback on product experience, features and usability as well as combine their industry insights and expertise with Varjo’s product development.

Varjo’s ‘human eye-resolution’ VR technology was tested in public at Slush last week – for the first time in history. The company is on target to launch its first commercial headset next year.
