Helsinki to host #DTTT Global 2018
The Finnish capital city will welcome marketers from all over the world as the Digital Tourism Think Tank’s flagship event, #DTTT Global 2018, lands in Helsinki on 29 and 30 November.
During the two-day conference, marketers from up to 400 destinations will gather in Helsinki to share and learn from each other, explore upcoming trends, find new business opportunities, and discuss the future of tourism.
Helsinki will also have the chance to show off innovations contributing to its status as an internationally recognised digital pioneer, such as the MyHelsinki.fi digital platform whose contents are fully contributed by locals.
“Helsinki is one of the best examples in the world of how digital tools and local residents can be engaged to communicate about the destination,” says Laura Aalto, CEO of Helsinki Marketing. “Functional digital services that truly meet visitor needs will become more and more relevant in the future.”
will tackle some of the hottest topics of the day, such as tech, innovation, transformative travel, design thinking and blockchain, while one of the highlights of the conference promises to be Finnish startup Space Nation discussing how space travel puts the focus beyond the horizon.
A key topic will also be how to digitally target the fast-growing Asian market, something Finland has succeeded in doing in recent years with a major stopover strategy that has led to tourist numbers soaring in the country.
“Finland really is on top of its game when it comes to tech and innovation, but with changing needs of the millennial traveller and growth of the Asian markets, it has also proven to be a dark horse in tourism and is exemplary for everything the #DTTT stands for,” says Nicholas Hall, CEO of the Digital Tourism Think Tank.
