Located in the Tehran Pars district, the restaurant is run by a local franchise entrepreneur.

“Iran has a market of 80 million customers, who don’t yet have access to Western burger restaurants,” saysHesburger CEO Kari Salmela. “We see it as an opportunity. Our goal is to open one to two restaurants per year in Iran.”

The burger chain also outlined plans to expand to other parts of the Middle East in the near future.

The main ingredients of Hesburger’s brand mayonnaise are exported from Finland and it is then produced locally in Iran.

The news follows the announcement in March that Hesburger is opening nine new restaurants in Bulgaria.
