Neste fuels fossil-free movement in Dutch province
Neste’s renewable diesel was a major success at the Elfwegentocht event, in which citizens of Friesland, the Netherlands, aimed to travel fossil-free for two weeks.
There was high demand for Neste‘s renewable diesel during the event, with more than 430 000 litres being sold and distributed in the northeastern Dutch province of Friesland.
Estimates suggest that approximately 12 000 people fuelled their cars with Neste’s renewable diesel during Elfwegentocht, resulting in a CO2 reduction of around 1,2 million kilos. This is equal to the amount of emissions 384 average Dutch passenger cars running on conventional diesel would produce in a year.
“Incredible how many people are now familiar with and use Blauwe Diesel powered by Neste MY,” commentsBouwe de Boer, leader of the fossil-free movement Freonen fan Fossylfrij Fryslan. “The Elfwegentocht set many people to think. For two weeks, it was the talk of the day on the street and in the media. Other provinces and municipalities now want fuel stations that sell Blauwe Diesel as well. That was exactly our mission.”
