Raisio’s cattle feed business to Lantmännen
Finnish company Raisio is selling its cattle feed business to Swedish agricultural cooperative Lantmännen.
The deal will significantly strengthen Lantmännen’s already well-established position in Finnish agriculture, as Raisio’s cattle feed business accounted for 35 per cent of the Finnish cattle feed market with sales of 74 million euros in 2017.
The acquisition includes two feed factories and sales of inputs for plant cultivation. More than 70 employees will also join the ranks of Lantmännen, while the Swedish agricultural cooperative owned by 25 000 Swedish farmers will also gain Raisio’s expertise in the digitalisation of agricultural services.
“Raisio has a well-established feed business that complements our present offer to Finnish farmers via Lantmännen Agro Oy,” says Elisabeth Ringdahl, head of Lantmännen’s agriculture sector. “We see synergies with our existing business, but above all, the acquisition will enable us to broaden our offer and become a leading supplier to Finnish agriculture customers.”
The transaction is expected to be completed no later than in the third quarter of 2018, following approval from Finnish competition authorities.
