Finnish short film to compete at Cannes
Finnish director Teemu Nikki’s short film All Inclusive has been nominated to compete in the Short Film Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
Organised this year for the 72nd time in Southern France, the festival will preview films of all genres from around the world and recognise the best ones with the famed Palme d’Or award. The Cannes Festival is one of the so-called big three film festivals alongside Berlinale and Venice Film Festival.

’s All Inclusive was chosen out of 4 240 films to compete against 11 other finalists from countries such as Argentina, France, Sweden and the US for the Short Film Palme d’Or. All Inclusive is only the seventh Finnish short film to be chosen into the competition.
All Inclusive
is a story of Kalervo (Lauri Maijala), who is bullied at home and at work until he is given an all-inclusive wristband with which everything is possible. Especially retribution.
Nikki’s earlier works have gathered all sorts of praise. His international debut and present-day domestic cult classic, A Mate (Kaveri), from 2007 competed at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and was chosen to the official programme at Sundance Film Festival. His other successful short films include Fantasy (Fantasia) from 2016 and Cleaning Woman (Siivooja) from 2018.
He is also known for his feature films, of which the most recent, The Euthanizer, was announced as Finland’s nomination for the foreign-language Oscar in early 2019.
