Verso Food to grow with Kavli
Finnish plant-based foods innovator Verso Food is set to accelerate its international growth after being acquired by Norway’s Kavli Group.
’s Härkis fava bean products will strengthen Kavli’s offering in Finland, which already includes mayonnaise, processed cheeses, and more recently oat- and soy-based products sold under the brand name Planti.
The acquisition will also allow Verso Food to accelerate its expansion to new markets and product groups, while keeping its base in Finland.
“Going forward, we will continue to focus on fava bean innovations and strengthen our brand in Finland and abroad,” said Verso Food’s CEO, TomiJärvenpää. “Four in five Finns already recognise Härkis, which shows that we’ve done a lot of things right – understanding our consumers and customers. With Kavli, we can achieve our international goals much faster: there are strong organisations in place in Sweden, Norway and the UK, and export[s] to more than 20 countries.”
Verso Food has its production facilities in Finland’s Southern Ostrobothnia region, while Kavli’s oat- and soy-based Planti products are produced in Turku.
